What is PDFly?
PDFly is a free collection of 21 online tools for everyday document work: merging, splitting, compressing, converting, signing and protecting PDF files, plus image compression, resizing and text recognition (OCR). The whole site is available in English, Arabic and French.
Why we built it
Most online PDF services ask you to upload your documents to their servers — including contracts, ID cards, bank statements and medical papers. Many also limit how many files you can process, add watermarks, or require an account. We wanted tools that are simple, free and that never need to see your files.
How it works
Every PDFly tool runs as JavaScript inside your own browser. When you add a file, it is opened and processed on your computer or phone; the result is created there too. Nothing is uploaded, so the service is fast even on a slow connection, and your documents remain private. Close the tab and the data disappears.
PDFly is built on respected open-source libraries: pdf-lib for editing PDFs, Mozilla's PDF.js for rendering pages, jsPDF and html2canvas for creating documents, and Tesseract.js for text recognition in Arabic, French and English.
Our principles
- Privacy first: your files stay on your device.
- Free for everyone: no account, no daily limits, no watermark. The site is financed by a small number of advertisements.
- Honest tools: each page explains what a tool does and what its limits are — for example, that the signature tool adds a visual signature, not a certified one.
- Accessible: works on any modern browser, on phones and computers, in light or dark mode.
