1. Your files never leave your device
All PDFly tools (merge, split, compress, convert, sign, protect, OCR and the others) run as JavaScript inside your web browser. The files you select are opened and processed locally on your computer or phone. They are never uploaded to our servers or to anyone else, and we cannot see, store or recover them. When you close the tab, the data is gone.
The same applies to passwords you type in the Protect PDF tool and to signatures you create in the Sign PDF tool.
2. Data stored in your browser
We use your browser's local storage for a few conveniences only: your light/dark theme choice, your cookie consent choice, and a marker that prevents a single visit from being counted twice by the visitor counter. This information stays on your device.
3. Visitor statistics
The public visitor counter on the home page uses the free Abacus counting service (abacus.jasoncameron.dev). When a visit is counted, your browser sends an anonymous request that increments a number; no file, name or account information is sent. As with any web request, the service can see your IP address.
If enabled, we also use Google Analytics to understand which pages are useful. It collects anonymous usage data (pages viewed, device type, approximate country) using cookies, subject to your consent where required.
4. Advertising (Google AdSense)
PDFly is free because it shows advertisements provided by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can learn more and opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings, and read how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Visitors from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are asked for consent before personalised ads and analytics cookies are used.
5. Third-party resources
To keep the site fast, some open-source libraries and fonts are loaded from public content delivery networks: cdnjs (Cloudflare), jsDelivr and Google Fonts. The OCR tool downloads language data from jsDelivr. These providers receive standard technical information such as your IP address and browser type when the files are downloaded; they never receive your documents.
6. Cookies and your choices
You can accept or decline non-essential cookies in the banner shown on your first visit. You can also delete cookies and local storage at any time in your browser settings; the banner will then appear again.
7. Children
PDFly is a general-audience tool and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Your rights

9. Changes
We may update this policy when the site changes. The date at the top of this page shows the latest version.
