About this tool
Online forms often limit photos to 200 KB or 1 MB, and heavy images slow down websites. Set the quality (75% is a good default), optionally limit the width — for example 1920 px — and choose to keep the format or convert to JPG or WebP, which is usually the smallest.
You can process many pictures at once and download them together as a ZIP. PDFly never returns a file bigger than the original: if compression doesn't help, the original is kept.
How to compress images
- 1
Add images
Select one or many photos.
- 2
Set quality
Lower quality = smaller file. 60–80% is usually invisible to the eye.
- 3
Optional: limit width
Resizing a 4000 px photo to 1920 px saves a lot of space.
- 4
Compress and download

Questions about Compress Image
How do I get a photo under 200 KB?
Set a maximum width of 1200–1600 px and quality around 70%, output JPG or WebP.
Does compression remove EXIF data?
Yes. Re-encoding removes EXIF metadata such as GPS location, which is good for privacy.
Why is my PNG still large?
PNG is lossless. Convert it to JPG or WebP for much smaller photos.
