Split, Extract or Delete PDF Pages: Which Tool to Use?

Three tools, three different results. Learn which one fits your task and how to use page ranges.

You have a 40-page PDF but only need part of it. Depending on what you want to end up with, one of three tools is the fastest.

Split PDF — several files out

Use Split PDF when the result should be multiple files:

Modes: every page, every N pages, or custom ranges like 1-3, 4-6, 7, where each range becomes a file.

Extract pages — one file with only what you need

Use Extract pages when you want one new PDF containing a selection, such as the summary and the signature page of a contract: 1-2, 18.

Delete pages — same document, minus a few pages

Use Delete pages when most of the document stays and only a few pages must go: blank pages, an outdated appendix, advertising inserts. You see thumbnails of every page and click the ones to remove.

How page ranges work

Pages that don't exist are ignored, so 8-50 in a 10-page file means pages 8 to 10.

Need a different order?

Extract keeps pages in ascending order. To rearrange them, finish with Reorder pages, where you can drag thumbnails into place.

Your original file is never modified by any of these tools — you can always start again.
